DVD Shelves

Author: Administrator Category: DVD Shelves

DVD technology has come far and fast, and DVD shelves need to keep up the pace, in order that you have a safe and handy place to store your entertainment. You want a place that is not close to extreme heat or cold, so be sure your shelf isn't displayed too close to the fireplace. In this way, you can ensure that your DVD's will be protected from being cracked or scratched. They will not play properly if they become overly scratched.

Many people, especially those who burn their own CD's and DVD's, stack them in piles. This is not a good way to store them, unless you're not worried about them being damaged. DVD storage can be found in styles like drawers, stack bins, racks and cabinets. You can even purchase blank DVD cases that look and operate just like the kind DVD's are placed in when they are made, in case you have broken or lost a case. The storage unit you choose for your home will depend on your decor and on how many CD's and DVD's you need to store.

Your DVD collection will grow, from your first one until you have more than you can keep in a stack. You'll want CD's and DVD's from your favorite artists and actors, and this will mean a fast-growing collection. It will truly be as immense as a library of books, as it grows over the years.

The most permanent looking DVD storage units can be cabinets or DVD shelves. They will provide your media with the best protection against scratches, breakage and moisture. Handsome shelves and cabinets are excellent accents if you have a home theater area. CD racks may have a different size than DVD racks, since the discs themselves come in different size packaging. Some types of cabinets will have automatic drawers that are operated with push buttons.

You may select DVD storage units that are made with glass, metal or wood. Racks are favorites because they're easy to take discs in and out of, and they can be wall-mounted for easy storage with a minimum of wasted space. Wooden DVD cabinets are quite popular for those who have amassed large collections of DVD's. You may have been collecting CD's and DVD's for a long time, or you may buy used from libraries or on eBay, and in this way your collection may get quite large.

Glass DVD units are also popular, and they blend with any type of furniture you may have in your theater room. Glass units look fancy, but they are more difficult than wood or metal to keep clean. DVD storage units come in various styles, and one is sure to fit your decor and the size of your collection. Many of the smaller designs can be nested or stacked, which means they can grow as the size of your collection grows.

If you want a DVD unit that looks more artistic, or if you have an extensive collection, a disc wave tower may suit your needs. You can stand these DVD shelves as towers or mount them on a wall, and they will hold all your DVD's in style.
